Sierra Nevada
The Villa makes a great base from which to enjoy the varied aspects of Andalucia. It is on the borders of the National Park, so is great for walking and rambling. We are about an hour away from the Sierra Nevadas and winter skiing.

Lake Vinuela
This is about 5 mins from the house, just over the hill, on the shores of which is the beautiful Hotel Vinuela. The hotel is worth a visit, to sit on the terrace and enjoy the view, and sometimes to witness a modern Spanish wedding on the lawn overlooking the lake. Through the hotel you can arrange several activities including horse-riding, canoeing, hire of bicycles, etc. There is also a huge swimming pool attached to the hotel which you may like to use for a change. There are a few restaurants overlooking the Lake.
This is “horse” country and during the month of June there is a festival which involves local farmers and countrymen all camping in the woods below the hotel with their horses. They hold processions through the lanes and it is fun to get involved .

Puente don Manuel 
The local village of Puente is home to more restaurants and eating establishments and also has shops catering for most needs including an excellent bakery and butcher., chicken from the spit…. Tapas..

Torre del Mar
Pretty town with lots of shops, “churringitta” bars on the beach and a weekly market. There is a major shopping mall en route and an Aquapark.

Velez-Malaga
This bustling town, complete with castle, is about 10 min. drive from the house. Well worth a wander around you can catch a “tram/train” from here to Torre del Mar and from there a bus to Malaga.

Nerja 
25 minutes along the coast is the lovely town of Nerja which boasts several golden beaches. Huge paella meals are cooked on the beach here on Sunday mornings and a few minutes outside the town the caves are a must to visit; they are spectacular.

 Malaga, Marbella and Gibraltar
All within easy driving distance.

2 Golf courses are within 30 mins of the Villa, plus many more a bit further away.
